bubbles

I found these super-strong bubbles while shopping for stocking presents for the kids. The bubbles that are blown are strong and sort of plasticky, so you can handle them and even attach googly eyes. It triggered such strong childhood memories of blowing bubbles while breathing in those fumes and feeling dizzy. I was surprised that they would sell them here, since I was quite sure it was one of those slightly hazardous penny-items that you would only find in Asia, but there they were, with a large warning written on them to DO THIS IN A WELL-VENTILATED PLACE OR DIE!

So outside we went, and with many loud warnings of NO, NO, DON’T BREATHE IN! many bubbles were blown.

And many bubbles were tossed and piled up.

And they were as fun as I remember. Especially when you pop the bubbles and roll all the deflated mess into a big, sticky ball. That’s universal childhood fun.

I bought them in the Stocking Stuffers section at Restoration Hardware. Unfortunately, it looks like they’re no longer sold there.
