Friends, today is my birthday! We were supposed to have dinner at our friends’ house, but she went into labor over the weekend. Ha, shouldn’t we know better than to let a majorly pregnant woman cook us dinner mere days before her due date? But dear sweet F is taking the day off, and we are headed out to a lunch date before he cooks us dinner and bakes me a cake. I consider that a pretty terrific day.

PS – I have this strange idea that somehow, if I raise my children on really wonderful chocolate that they will develop a gourmand’s taste for the finer things and forgo the cheap kind. Am I deluded? (Not that my house isn’t still packed with hidden Halloween candy, mind you…)

Aren’t they funny and a little bit creepy at the same time? They’re from Luscious Lips, and the ones I bought were Peachy Lips, but they also had spicy ones (Hot Lips, haha), plus honey and espresso.

In my experience they won’t forgo the cheap stuff, but they will develop a taste for the good stuff and happily choose it given the options.
