Otis loves the idea of dressing up like animals.
He will often dress up entirely in one color, or all in stripes, or with socks of a particular color to simulate some characteristics of particular animals. One day he wore his grey pajamas to school as a koala bear. He even made a mask to complete his look. He’s a zebra here, though he was disappointed that his boots were not black and thus not “hoof”-y enough. He’s recovered from his disappointment now, though.
Zebra stripe pants from American Apparel, striped long sleeved tee from Splendid (so soft!), second-hand rain boots from Gymboree. Yes, I am totally feeling the American Apparel love, especially since they had a big Mother’s Day sale. So far, one teacher from Otis’s school is coveting the gold lame, while another is coveting these zebra stripes. The third one I’m pretty sure I will NOT convert to AA. Oh, and he’s playing air guitar here, which was my idea, but the sunglasses and disheveled hair are his.
Lately our weekends have felt so packed. We generally try not to schedule too many activities, preferring just to hang out, but even without plans we end up doing impromptu things with friends and neighbors and staying up too late. After Memorial Day weekend, I just felt exhausted. I hate to give up the casual hang-out time with friends, but it often feels like the kids are exhausted by weekend’s end. Does this happen to you as well?
